Axle Annie Writing Project

Students were paired up (two students from Fairview and two students from Kennedy) and given an image from Axle Annie that was shared with each group through Google Docs. Students from Kennedy began the writing and then Fairview students added on to what was started. This process went back and forth for two "share/save" sessions. As students worked on writing they had the ability to talk to their partners at the other school by using google chat (g-chat, which is a form of live instant messaging) or visiting one of the Skype (live video chat) stations to gather more information or suggestions for their story. Students also practiced revising and editing during this collaborative writing project and these can be seen on the published document. This was a great learning experience not only for the students but for the teachers as well! Classes reflected upon the experience and discussed ways to improve for the next collaborative story writing project.

We hope you enjoy reading our stories below! Click on a scene to see the results of our 1-day collaboration! Please feel free to leave us any comments or questions in a discussion board at the top (Click on DISCUSSION)! As always, we love hearing from our audience!

Please keep in mind when viewing our collaborative writing that the 'published' versions below show the editing and revisions that took place between the two schools. This was our first attempt at shared writing based upon a picture. The writing that you see occurred during 2 sit down sessions. We look forward to expanding our collaborative writing pieces!
